Indiana Campus Compact Terms of Service
This site contains various information relating to Indiana Campus Compact, whose principal place of business is at 1226 W Michigan Street, Suite 026, Indianapolis, IN 46202, in the form of text, graphics, news, reports, and other materials (“content”). By accessing, browsing, and/or using this site you acknowledge you have read, understand, and agree to be legally bound to these terms of service. If you do not accept this agreement, do not use this site. We reserve the right, at our discretion, to modify, add, or delete portions of these terms of service at any time by posting updated terms of service on Indiana Campus Compact the website. Any modifications will be effective immediately, your continued use of the service or content will express that you agree with those changes.
Copyright, Trademark, and Intellectual Property. Copyright law protects Indiana Camps Compact and its original works of authorship, including, but not limited to, written, oral, pictorial, and audiovisual creations. No part of the creative works of authorship may be reproduced or distributed, in any form, including electronic, mechanical, photo copying, recording, or otherwise without the written permission of the author. You may print a limited amount of content for personal, non-commercial use only, provided that you includes all copyright and other notices contained in the content and does not modify the content. Indiana Campus Compact reserves the right to protect its presenters, facilitators, agents, members, and volunteers and their original works of authorship. Any creative works of authorship posted or distributed in the context of Indiana Campus Compact programs are subject to their own copyright; you may not use or distribute their creative works without written permission from the author. Indiana Campus Compact will obtain permission to post or distribute its presenters creative works for the sole purpose of providing a resource for the program participants; this does not grant the use of these creative works, in any form, other than personal reference. Any creative works from other parties should include the following disclaimer: “Opinions or points of view expressed are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the official position of Indiana Campus Compact.”
We take claims of copyright infringement seriously. We will respond to notice of alleged copyright infringement that comply with applicable law. If you believe any content on this site infringes on your copyright, you may request removal of that content by submitting written notice to our designated agent, Summer Webb, Director of Grants and Operations for Indiana Campus Compact, 1226 W Michigan Street, Suite 026, Indianapolis, IN 46202, email@example.com. Under the Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, your written notice must include the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted content (s) you believe to have bee infringed
- Identification of the location so we can locate the content
- Adequate contact information including your name, email, and phone number
- Your signature, physical or electronic
- Statement that you have a good faith belief that he use of the copyrighted material is not authorized by the owner or it’s agent
- Statement that the written notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Failure to comply with the above requirements may make your notice ineffective. Any notices submitted that are a known misrepresentation will be held liable for damages, including costs and attorney fees).
Limitation of Liability. In no event, will Indiana Campus Compact or its directors, officers, employees, agents, or volunteers be liable for any loss or damage, direct or indirect, from your use or inability to use the service or content on this site. You are responsible for evaluating the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any service or content available on this site. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for negligence, consequential, or incidental damages, in such jurisdictions Indiana Campus Compact’s liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
You represent and warrant that a) any material you post, upload, transmit, or provide through the service does not and will not violate any rules of the terms of service, and b) your use of the service and content complies with these terms of service. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Indiana Campus Compact and all parties from any claims, liability’s, cots, or expenses, including attorney fees, arising from your breach of the expressed representations and warranties, your use of the service and content, the material you have posted, uploaded, transmitted.
Links to Indiana Campus Compact. Indiana Campus Compact encourages and permits links to content on the Indiana Campus Compact website. However, the linking shall not suggest that Indiana Campus Compact promotes or endorses any third party’s cause, ideas, website, or products. We reserve the right to withdraw permission for linking.
Links to Third Party Site. Indiana Campus Compact may include third party links on our website and in our content. Indiana Campus Compacts use of third party links is not an endorsement of the content, products, or service provided in the third party site. Indiana Campus Compact is not responsible for any information collected, used, or shared as a result of visiting a third party link, nor do we make any warranty or representation, expressed or implied, regarding the content of the third party site. Indiana Campus Compact shall have no liability of any nature in relation to third party links.
Disclaimer of Warranty. Content provided by, or on behalf of, Indiana Campus Compact is for informational purposes only. You acknowledge and agree that content is provided on an “as is” or “as available” basis. None of Indiana Campus Compact’s partners, affiliates and respective officers, employees, agents, and volunteers guarantees the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of the content. Indiana Campus Compact does not warrant that services will be uninterrupted, error free, or that its server, or any files available for downloading, are free of computer viruses or other harmful elements. We value the security of your data and take steps to protect it to the extent possible using industry standard technology and services. You agree that the entire risk to the quality, completeness, and accuracy of our services is assumed solely by you. Indiana Campus Compact, or any of its representation, does not make any express or implied warranties, endorsements, guarantees, or disclaims regarding content provided, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement of third-party rights.
Use of Service. By participating in service and/or opportunities on the Indiana Campus Compact website, is subject to the following rules:
- You may not submit information or content anonymously or under false name/email address
- You may not remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary rights notices which may be affixed to or contained within the service/opportunity
- We encourage the expression of ideas, however lewd, obscene, pornographic, racist, belligerent, commercial, or sexually explicit content will not be accepted
- Content that is unlawful or harmful to other users will not be accepted
- You may only submit content in which you have the copyright or permission to distribute
- You may not knowingly submit, upload, or transmit materials or content that contains a virus or other harmful code
- You may not use the website to distribute chain letter, mass mailings, or spam
- You may not use the website to gather email address for the purpose of sending mass emails or spam
- You may request refunds for event/opportunities at least 6 weeks prior to the date of the event/opportunity. You agree that Indiana Campus Compact will retain a $50 refund processing fee. Refund request must be in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org
- You may use social media to promote your project with Indiana Campus Compact. Please be aware that social media sites are upheld to the terms of service listed herein.

- You agree to abide by the Indiana Campus Compact branding and logo usage guide:
- The Indiana Campus Compact logo must be used on any and all printed and/or electronic materials that result from an Indiana Campus Compact sponsored project. You may not alter the logo in any manner. Items on which logo should appear are, but not limited to, flyers, electronic invitations, event handouts, t-shirts, etc.
- You can download the Indiana Campus Compact logo here – Indiana Campus Compact logo. The logo is available in formats other than .jpeg as well as red and transparent colors. Please contact Liza Blomquist at email@example.com for more information. The standard logo colors are Pantone (Commercial print): 1955 C; RGB (Word): R 138 G 21 B 56; RGB websafe# 990033; CMYK (Adobe): C 9 M 100 Y 54 K 43.
- International attendees or presenters are welcome:
- A list of the 38 countries taking part in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) can be found here.
- Attendees from Non-VWP Countries (including Canada).
For those wishing to travel to the U.S. to attend Indiana Campus Compact events, a “non-work” visiting visa is required for guests coming from non-VWP countries. Citizens of non-VWP countries (including Canada) should obtain a B-1 or B-2 temporary stay visa typically awarded when clearing customs at the US boarder as part of standard access to the U.S. on business (not work) trips to an industry business & networking conference or event.
If ANY paid employment is part of your intended time in the U.S. during which you attend an event sponsored by Indiana Campus Compact (whether or not this payment is connected to either attending or presenting at an Indiana Campus Compact event), you must obtain a work visa in advance of entry, separate from the process described here.
- Attendees from VWP Countries (including Europe & Australia). For anyone traveling from the 38 countries that are part of the VWP, you are able to travel to the U.S. without a visa for stays of 90 days or less if, you meet all of the requirements for this type of travel as explained here. It is recommended that those meeting this description apply for a passport or “visitor visa” at least 90 days in advance of the date you wish to travel.
- Letters of Invitation. If you need a letter of invitation in order to receive your visa, you may request such letter upon full payment of all fees associated with attending an Indiana Campus Compact event. Indiana Campus Compact will not supply an invitation letter to unpaid or unregistered participants. Indiana Campus Compact reserves the right to refuse to provide invitation letters for attendees.
Please note, Indiana Campus Compact is unable to provide any further support to the visa application process. Obtaining a visa remains the sole responsibility of the participant. Regular cancellation deadlines and policies apply, regardless of whether or not a participant’s visa was granted.
Counter-Notification Procedure. If you believe that content you submitted, posted, or transmitted was omitted or disabled by mistake, please contact us to make a counter-notification in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
- Identification of the copyrighted content (s) you believe to have been infringed
- Identification of the location so we may sufficiently locate the content
- Adequate contact information including your name, email, and phone number
- Your signature, physical or electronic
- Statement that the written notice is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
Miscellaneous, In the event that any portion of the agreement is held to be unenforceable, the unenforceable portion shall be construed in accordance with applicable law as nearly as possible to reflect the original intentions of the parties. The paragraph headings herein are provided for reference only and shall have no effect on the construction or interpretation of the terms of service. Failure to enforce strict performance of any provision will not constitute a waiver of Indiana Campus Compact’s right to subsequently enforce such provisions.
A. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Authorized User agrees not to use the Service to: (a) violate any local, state, national or international law, (b) impersonate any person or entity, or otherwise misrepresent Authorized User's affiliation with a person or entity, (c) stalk, harass or harm another individual, (d) promote or glorify hatred, violence or racial intolerance, (e) collect or store personal data about other Authorized Users or (f) disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Site or the Service, or interfere with or disrupt the Service, the Site or servers or networks connected to the Service or the Site.
C. DATA SECURITY AND MONITORING
Data are supplied by Authorized Users and may include, but are not limited to, volunteer opportunity descriptions, organizations' contact information and news. Accordingly, we have no editorial control over such data. Any data, services, offers, or other information provided by Authorized Users are those of the respective Authorized Users and not HandsOn Connect. We do not endorse, nor are we responsible for investigating or ensuring the accuracy of, any such data, and we retain the right to modify, update, designate as inactive, or remove any data at any time. We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor and review the data and Authorized Users' accounts to determine compliance with these Terms, laws, or regulations.
D. AUTHORIZED USER DATA; LICENSE; REPRESENTATION AND WARRANTY
Authorized User grants to HandsOn Connect a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-transferable, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, create derivative works of, sub-license and exercise all rights with respect to Authorized User's data in any media format for data that Authorized User has submitted to HandsOn Connect.
E. DEALINGS WITH OTHER AUTHORIZED USERS, SPONSORS AND ADVERTISERS
Authorized User agrees that HandsOn Connect will not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage incurred as a result of any interaction or relationship with other Authorized Users, sponsors, or advertisers, or as a result of such parties' access to and use of the Site or Service.
Links provided to other locations or web sites are made available for Authorized User's convenience only and do not indicate our endorsement of such other location or site or its data. We do not review or control, and are not responsible for any web sites other than the Site or the Service (and in the case of the Site or the Service, only as provided for herein), or any data available on such other web sites or locations. We are not liable for any links, information, or applications found at any other web site, Internet location, or source of information, or for Authorized User's use of such information.
G. MODIFICATIONS TO THE SERVICE
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service or the Site with or without notice to Authorized User. We are not liable to Authorized User or any third party should we exercise our right to modify or discontinue the Service or the Site. If Authorized User objects to any such changes, his, her or its sole recourse is to discontinue using the Service. Continued access and/or use of the Service or the Site following notice of any such changes shall indicate Authorized User's assent to and acceptance of such changes.
H. MODIFICATIONS TO TERMS
We may change the Terms from time to time. We will notify any affected Authorized User of any such changes by posting a notice of such changes on the Site or notifying any Authorized User via e-mail. If Authorized User objects to any such changes, his, her or its sole recourse shall be to cease using the Service and/or the Site. Continued access to and/or use of the Service and/or the Site following notice of such modifications or changes shall indicate Authorized User's assent to and acceptance of the Terms, including but not limited to all posted changes.
J. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
Authorized User expressly agrees that use of the Service and the Site is at Authorized User's own risk. The Site and the Service are provided on an "as available" and "as is" basis. HandsOn Connect expressly disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular use or purpose and non-infringement with respect to the Service. HandsOn Connect makes no warranty that the Site or the Service will be error free or meet Authorized User's requirements, or that the Site or the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or secure; nor does HandsOn Connect make any warranty as to the accuracy, or reliability of the results that may be obtained from or through the use of the Site or the Service, or that defects in the Site or the Service will be corrected. The entire risk as to satisfactory quality, accuracy, performance, and results to be obtained through the use of the Site or the Service is with Authorized User. No information or advice, whether oral or written, obtained by Authorized User from HandsOn Connect or through the Site or the Service shall create any warranty not expressly made herein. HandsOn Connect makes no warranty regarding any transactions or dealings entered into with any other parties through the Site or the Service. Authorized User understands and agrees that any information downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the Site or the Service is done at Authorized User's own discretion and risk, and that Authorized User will be solely responsible for any damage to his, her or its computer services or loss of data that results from the download of such information.
K. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL HON OR HANDSON CONNECT, THEIR AFFILIATES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, TRUSTEES, EMPLOYEES, INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS AND AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES (EVEN IF THAT PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES), ARISING FROM BREACH OF THIS AGREEMENT, SUCH AS, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOSS OF REVENUE OR ANTICIPATED PROFITS OR LOST BUSINESS (COLLECTIVELY, "DISCLAIMED DAMAGES").
Authorized User agrees to indemnify and hold harmless HandsOn Connect, its affiliates and their respective directors, officers, trustees, employees, independent contractors and agents ("Indemnified Party") from and against any losses, liabilities, suits, claims, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) ("Loss") arising out of or relating to any claim, suit, judgment, or proceeding brought or asserted by any third party ("Claim") alleging any breach of such party's representations, warranties or covenants under this Agreement. Authorized User shall indemnify and hold harmless HandsOn Connect for any Loss arising out of or relating to (a) Authorized User's violation of these Terms or the rights of any other Authorized User, (b) Authorized User's use of the Site or the Service, (c) any information submitted or transmitted through the Site or Service or (d) the transmission of computer viruses, worms, harmful program routines or other similar items into the Site or the Service, or using the Site or the Service to access without authorization any other computer or machine. The Indemnified Party shall notify the Indemnifying Party of any such claim of which it becomes aware and shall: (x) at Indemnifying Party's expense, provide reasonable cooperation to Indemnifying Party in connection with the defense or settlement of any such claim and (y) be entitled to participate in the defense of any such claim at its own expense with counsel of its own choosing.
M. Proprietary Rights.
All copyright and trade secret rights in and to the Site, the Service and the data used therein are and shall be the exclusive property of HandsOn Connect. To the extent, if any, that Authorized User has any rights in or to the Site or the Service, Authorized User hereby irrevocably assigns to HandsOn Connect, and agrees that HandsOn Connect shall be the sole and exclusive owner of, all right, title and interest in and to the Site and the Service, including without limitation all copyright, trade secret and other proprietary rights therein that may be secured in any place under laws now or hereafter in effect.
Names, logos, and other materials displayed on the Site and in the Service constitute trade names, logos, trademarks, and service marks ("Marks") are owned by or licensed to HandsOn Connect. Authorized User is not authorized to use these Trademarks without the prior written consent of HandsOn Connect. As between HandsOn Connect and Authorized User, HandsOn Connect and its licensors are and shall be the owner of all Marks and all goodwill associated with such Marks.
O. COPYRIGHTS and USE RESTRICTIONS
The data included as part of the Service, including without limitation, text, databases, software, code, and graphics, is (a) copyrighted by HandsOn Connect under United States copyright laws, (b) subject to other intellectual property laws, and (iii) owned by HandsOn Connect. Such data may not be copied, reproduced, modified, posted, transmitted, republished, sold, or redistributed in any way without our express prior written consent. Authorized User must abide by all copyright notices, information, or restrictions contained in or linked to any data described herein.
Modifications to any member agreements and any policies, including this Agreement, will be e-mailed to Authorized User and/or prominently posted and available for Authorized User to view at any time on the Site. Authorized User's continued access to and/or use of the Site will constitute Authorized User's complete assent to and acceptance of all such amended terms. These Terms contain the entire terms between the parties. In the event, any provision of these Terms is held to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, then such provision shall be severed from these Terms while the remaining terms shall remain binding on the parties hereto. The section titles in these Terms are for convenience only and have no contractual or legal effect. These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, without regard to its conflicts of law provisions. Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Authorized User agrees that regardless of any statute or law to the contrary, any claim or cause of action brought by Authorized User arising out of or related to the use of the Service or the Site, or specified in these Terms, must be filed within one (1) year after such claim or cause of action arose, or shall be forever barred.
